RUSH Guitarist To Raise More Money For Kidney Foundation Of Canada
September 7, 2010For the fifth consecutive year, RUSH guitarist Alex Lifeson will auction one of his original paintings on eBay to support The Kidney Foundation of Canada.
"Alex is definitely a highlight for us," Tim Fox, who is the executive director of the New Brunswick-P.E.I. branch of The Kidney Foundation, tells TheChronicleHerald.ca. "We asked him if he would paint for us, and I think, to be honest, he was very pleasantly surprised with how well his first painting sold. It sold for $3,000, and that really got him excited, so he painted the next year and it sold for $5,700. He has been with us every step of the way."
Lifeson, along with a number of other Canadian celebrities, created paintings to help bring attention to the crisis surrounding kidney disease and kidney-related illness, not only in Canada, but around the globe. All funds raised through the sale of these paintings will be used by The Kidney Foundation to fund innovative research so that we can reduce the burden of kidney disease.
